Duty Sister (Day shift 3 and Night shift 4)
To manage the overall health care function per shift in accordance with applicable legislation and agreed medical procedures
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Must be able to communicate with the elderly
Ensure that prescribed medication is administered correctly and timeously and within the guidelines of the Nursing Scope of Practice
Ensure that Resident/Patient individual medication is always available in liaison with Doctors and Pharmacies
Management of HCC Shift Staff
Promote sound relationships within the staff teams
Timeously and proactively address any staff performance or conduct issues, through effective motivation/counselling/record keeping and discipline
Be aware of and up to date with, all nursing practices and policies of the Company
Check and sign off-duty and attendance registers; ensure that staff have correctly completed latter
Daily recording of the application of each individual patient/resident nursing care plan
Ensure that special diet sheets (where applicable) are accurate and up to date
Ensuring that medicine charts are written up correctly
Handling of patient complaints in the correct manner
Recording of doctor’s instructions
Ensures that the Catering Department is aware of all special dietary requirements and supervises the serving of all meals on the shift to ensure compliance with these.
These tasks may be added to depending on the employers reasonable requirements
Day Shift: Normal working hours are 07h00 to 19h00 Monday to Sunday and required to work an average of 16 shifts per calendar month, according to the duty roster.
However, you are also required to work night shift from 19h00 to 07h00 Monday to Sunday to a minimum of 15 shifts per year, according to the duty roster.
Night Shift: Normal working hours are 19h00 to 07h00 Monday to Sunday and required to work an average of 16 shifts per calendar month, according to the duty roster.
However, you are also required to day night shift from 07h00 to 19h00 Monday to Sunday to a minimum of 15 shifts per year, according to the duty roster.
Meal breaks: 60 minutes; however, due to the nature of the position, required to remain on the premises during meals breaks to be on call in case of emergencies
