Permanent TECHNICAL SALES MANAGER Randburg, Gauteng - South Africa


Our client, based in Randburg is urgently looking for a full time Technical Sales Manager (TSM). The candidate is responsible for managing key distributor sales accounts with a view to achieving strategic and fiscal business targets as defined by the CEO or CSO. He / she will be responsible for developing and managing these sales channels and developing and executing Sales and Marketing actions to support them. The market segment that the incumbent will be working in is the access automation sector and past experience in this industry will be a prerequisite. The product range being distributed is sourced from one of Europe’s leading manufacturers who have been in the access automation industry for over 40 years. The candidate must have knowledge and extensive Electronic Component Distribution.

Job Description

• Develop a sound knowledge, through training and self-development, of current and emerging product technology and their application in the local market
• Responsible for new business development and recruitment of new business Partners and Distributors
• Negotiate T&C’s with each partner within the parameters laid out by corporate / local offices
• Conduct market analysis and develop product strategy
• Perform partner volume target reviews
• Ensure teams achieve and exceed their goals through setting up best practice standards and monitoring these standards.
• Work with the Field Sales Engineers and Field Application Engineers to deliver on shared objectives
• Perform target and objective setting for the distribution team
• Work with Local / International training resources to ensure adequate product knowledge
• Perform regular reviews of distribution plans to ensure that partners are up to date with the company’s technology and solutions
• Report to Executives on all aspects of the business
• Maintain inventory control
• Handle complaints from customers / distributors and direct them to the relevant department
• Conduct post-mortems on projects and evaluate the pros and cons of the project from a customers and company’s objective
• Submit reports on sales activities, quote to sale hit-rate, project status and post-mortems
• Keep management informed on current competitive activities which could impact the market segment
• Support your key accounts, and develop a distribution network
• Monitor distributor activity and assist in product introduction, training and marketing tools
• Drive growth with pro-activity
• Ability to multi-task and/or work on multiple sales accounts concurrently

• Must have minimum 8 years’ experience in the Electronic Components Distribution Industry
• Must have minimum 8 years’ Sales experience
• Must have good oral, written, and communication skills
• Must be computer literate
• Must be able to multi-task and/or work on multiple sales accounts concurrently
• Must be able to work, strive and grow in a dynamic work environment
• Must be able to work closely and effectively with field sales resources
• Must be able to maintain a high degree of ethics and integrity
• Must have knowledge in the Distribution of Electronics industry
• Must be able to talk technical
• Must be computer literate
• Must be prepared to work long hours
• Must be willing to travel
• Must be a team player
• Must have a valid driver’s licence and car
