Permanent Field Manager Operations in Building & Construction

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY – FIELD MANAGER (OPERATIONS DIVISION)
The co-ordination and management of day to day activities of the Site Managers.
DUTIES
• Initiate and co-ordinate all material delivery, plant delivery/usage and manage resources of a varying number of construction sites across an extensive geographical area.
• Daily programme updates, trouble shooting and regular site inspections during the site construction phase
• Ensure the well-being of the Site Managers and teams under his control.
• Initiate contact with Property Owner (PO) prior to site establishment as well as ongoing contact with the PO for the duration of site construction.
• Manage and control all day to day field activities with the Site Managers under his control.
• Ensure correct implementation of the Statement of Work (SOW) and the specifications issued by the Engineering Department for the project/site.
• Comply with any further instructions or requirements of a reasonable nature that may be given by senior management from time to time.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• All health, safety and environmental responsibilities on site and ensuring adherence to all Company Policies in this regard.
• Be familiar with the Company Quality Assurance requirements so as to enable effective internal site audits prior to final client hand-over.
• Ensure that all required photos are being taken as specified by the Engineering Division for As-Built purposes.
• Ensure correct implementation of the SOW and specifications as issued by the Engineering Department.
• Ensure maximum field production with minimum delays with regard to incidents and any Variation Orders /changes requested.
• Ensure cost control based on the budget as issued.
• Responsible for the management of all sub-contractors under his control.
• Responsible to report daily on the field activities as specified in the Operations reporting procedure.
• Adhere to the Work Instruction for Field Managers.
• All health, safety and environmental responsibilities on site and ensuring adherence to all Company Policies in this regard.
EDUCATION / SKILLS REQUIREMENT
• Must be able to multi-task and prioritise activities to effectively meet a tight construction roll-out programme.
• Must be able to read, understand and implement site construction / build-to drawings.
• Must be computer literate.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
The incumbent must have had extensive prior experience in the management of construction teams in the following disciplines:
• Civils Experience is essential
• Building: Experience is essential
• Rigging: Experience is essential
• RF Work: Experience is essential
• Site Assessment of new works: Experience is beneficial but not essential
• Previous experience in the construction of cellular GSM sites essential.
• Strong Managerial skills.
OTHER
Must be prepared to travel extensively.
AUTHORITY
The appointed Field Manager is authorized to:
• Purchase goods and issue allowances within the approved budget allocated to him.
• Ensure that the teams adhere to all health and safety requirements on site and take disciplinary action where and when required.
• Ensure that all the teams and individual employees under his supervision adhere to all Company – and Divisional procedures whilst working on site and in places of accommodation provided by our client for the duration of the project.
• Act on behalf of employees under his supervision in times of a crisis such as the employee being hospitalised or having problems with the authorities in the region.
SALARY / BENEFITS
This position is on a Fixed Term Contract basis and the salary is +/- R18, 000 basic with R4, 860 for a vehicle allowance. The applicant must either have or be in a position to apply for finance for a vehicle no smaller than a 2 litre one tonner.
