Aloe Rock Lodge is situated on the banks of the Sterk River in the Waterbergmountains, between Mokopane and Mokgopong. The lodge is nestled in the heart of a game farm. Privacy is assured as there is only one lodge on the property. The lodge has a lovely welcoming and farm atmosphere. It is built from stone sourced from nearby and is fully equipped. Just bring your own toiletries and food.
The lodge is self-catering (cleaning services are not included on a daily basis and have to be arranged in advance). There is NO electricity. All appliances run on gas and LED lights are used. There is a cozy fireplace for the cold winter nights. This is the ultimate breakaway to get away from the city and reconnect with nature.
There is a splash pool for the hot summer days and a large lapa and outdoor braai area. A porch swing overlooks the river that runs past the lodge and one can peacefully enjoy sundowners while watching the animals come to drink on the opposite bank.
The game farm offers 4x4 routes and game viewing in your own vehicle, walking trails, great fishing and it’s a true bird watchers paradise. Game ranges from small to large buck and include klipspringers, duikers, impala, wildebeest, nyalas, zebra, kudus, waterbuck and giraffes. Bow and rifle hunting are available in winter, but need to be booked well in advance.
Romantic cheese and wine sundown picnics on top of the mountain can be arranged in advance at an additional fee.
The lodge sleeps eight people. There is a gas stove in the kitchen outside. It has four burners and an oven. There are three bedrooms and a loft room. Two rooms have double beds and the third bedroom and loft room are both furnished with two single beds each.
There are camping facilities available a few hundred metres from the lodge and also include a small kitchen, hot water showers and toilet facilities.
