An amusing, vibrant, informative theatre production based on mathematics concepts for both school learners and the general public. The 60-minute show brings Mathematics to life through theatre, humor, music, dance , with the hope of inspiring learners and the general public to consider the importance of Mathematics in their everyday lives. It’s in our music, our technology, our art, our homes, and even in our nature.
This production skillfully combines three learning areas; Mathematics, Arts and Culture and Life Orientation, this is a thought-provoking production that takes the audience on an exciting ride the minute it starts. Not only will the learners be turned on by Mathematics, but they’ll embrace it and get excited about it. They’ll also leave with a better understanding of how math plays a part in everything they do.
Pascal is a hero in this hilarious production, which is calculated to appeal to all generations. His story is a reminder of the power of true determination and courage, and the patience needed to navigate unimaginable obstacles.
When you team up Muzi Mhlanga, theatre practitioner and a teaching artist who has scripted and appeared in numerous mainstream and corporate/industrial theatre productions (Happiness through the mist , Roots, PetroSA…), Bongani ‘Pillay’ Ngwenya, an educational theatre specialist who has also appeared in Themi Venturas’ hit musical Taxi Jam, Thami Zungu an actor who portrayed Jesus character in Jerry Pooe’s musical Messiah also starred in Long journey-the musical, Sounding wings-school set work), Simo Buthelezi a trained theatre facilitator who has also appeared in Caroline Smart’s children theatre production Rhythm Blues, and Tu Mvubu a seasoned actress and an ex-school teacher who has been involved in numerous educational theatre projects and productions like Women in Africa and I wish I was in jail(film), you get a highly successful formula for a play about Mathematics.
The production is co-written by Muzi Mhlanga and Simo Buthelezi, Directed by Muzi Mhlanga, Stage Management and Scenic design by Bongani ‘Pillay’ Ngwenya, with Simo Buthelezi, Tu Mvubu and Thami Zungu on stage. Nomcebo Gugu Dlamini is the Production Publicist.
