Do you want to learn to play the folk harp?
Have you ever dreamed what it’s like to play a song on harp strings?
Beginners harp lessons are offered to any age.
I can teach you to play the folk harp, if you are willing to learn this magnificent instrument.
I have an introductory course available, which will get you playing in only a few hours of practice, but it’s also up to how fast you want to learn to play.
You will start learning on a 34 string Italian Salvi Aida lever harp, without the fuss of many key changes, at the beginning. As you improve and learn more we can progress with more technical difficult lever changes (key change) as well as more complicated pieces. Luckily it’s the harp, so even if you do make mistakes, it will still sound awesome. The harp is a rather difficult instrument to play, but the good news is it has a nice sound on the ear from the beginning.
You will learn the basics of the harp, such as:
*How to tune the harp
*How to care for your instrument
*How to pluck the strings with your fingers
*How to hold the harp
*How to play familiar tunes
*How to do basic scales and arpeggios and other easy to more difficult harp techniques that will be beneficial.
*How to read beginners harp sheet music (similar to piano)
*And many more…
My main focus is for you to play the music you want to , but also music technique for your fingers to customize to the strings and improve your playing.
No music knowledge is required, however it is recommended to read basic piano sheet music, as it is very similar to harp. It is also recommended to buy or hire a harp to practice at home.
Harps to hire are available at: ProArte School of Arts in Pretoria
